Infrastructure Software Engineer/Administrator | General Dynamics Mission Systems

The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid/flex role at General Dynamics Mission Systems, located in Pittsfield, MA. General Dynamics Mission Systems engineers high-technology solutions, products, and services for defense and scientific missions. As an Infrastructure Software Engineer/Administrator for Surface Ship Systems Programs, you will be a member of an agile team responsible for delivering robust, flexible, secure, and stable infrastructure for U.S. Navy surface ships. This role is crucial for supporting critical national security operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Develop: Develop and configure common solutions to complex infrastructure problems for U.S. Navy surface ships.
• Test: Test and troubleshoot infrastructure solutions within a lab environment.
• Document: Create comprehensive documentation to support a rigorous engineering process.
• Collaborate: Meet daily with your team to collaborate and problem-solve, ensuring commitments to the U.S. Navy mission are met.
• Travel: Travel up to 50% of the time to support program needs.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field.
• Experience: Experience with agile methodologies preferred.
• Skills: Understanding of and experience with Linux Server technologies and/or Microsoft Windows Desktop and Server technologies; experience with scripting and automation technologies (specifically PowerShell, BASH, and Ansible); experience designing, configuring, and securing virtual machines (VMware and Proxmox).
• Bonus: Department of Defense Secret security clearance preferred at time of hire; CompTIA Security+ Certification (or ability to obtain).
