What You’ll Actually Do
• SharePoint Creation: Create a SharePoint system to centralize and organize record-keeping for licensing and permitting processes.
• File Migration: Assist in organizing existing shared folders and migrating necessary files to the new SharePoint system.
• Modernization Support: Contribute to the overall modernization initiative for the bureau’s record-keeping practices.
• Training Database: Develop systems to track staff training and establish a centralized training database to ensure consistency statewide.
• Explosive Magazine List: Create a master list of all explosive magazines and associated fees, which the bureau is responsible for inspecting and certifying.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates must be United States citizens or foreign nationals legally eligible to work in the United States, and at least 18 years of age. Applicants must be actively enrolled in a New York State college, university, or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State attending an equivalent program outside the state. A minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or its letter grade equivalent is required.
• Experience: Applicants must have completed at least one year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university. Part-time students who have accumulated one year’s worth of academic credits over a longer period may also qualify, as can currently enrolled or accepted graduate students.
• Skills: The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong self-starter qualities, capable of working independently on assigned tasks. Essential skills include a high level of technological proficiency, which will be critical for assisting with digital record-keeping and system development.
• Bonus: The department prefers candidates who are at the Sophomore to Senior education level in their undergraduate studies. Preferred academic concentrations include Business Administration, Engineering, or Information Technology, indicating a desire for foundational knowledge in these areas.
