Indirect Tax Analyst | Michael Baker International

This role is crucial for ensuring the accurate and timely preparation and filing of various indirect tax returns, contributing directly to the company’s financial compliance and integrity.

• Mission: Owns ensuring timely and accurate indirect tax compliance and reporting for the company.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, Oracle, FloQast, Bloomberg Tax
What You’ll Actually Do
• Tax Return Preparation: Partner with the Indirect Tax Supervisor to prepare and file sales and use, gross receipts, personal property, and Puerto Rico withholding tax returns.
• Use Tax Identification: Review prior-month expenses in Microsoft Excel and Oracle to identify use tax obligations.
• Tax Research: Conduct tax research using state revenue and taxation websites and Bloomberg Tax to understand laws and regulations affecting indirect tax matters.
• Monthly Close Activities: Prepare monthly tax journal entries in Microsoft Excel and complete monthly indirect tax account reconciliations using FloQast, as well as quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Compliance Management: Manage the indirect tax calendar to ensure timely filing of returns, payments, business licenses, and renewals, and coordinate with internal departments and external taxing authorities.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field for an entry-level position.
• Experience: Zero to two years of professional experience, with recent graduates and upcoming graduates encouraged to apply.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, SUMIF, and SUMIFS, coupled with strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate professionally, both written and verbally.
• Bonus: Experience with Oracle, FloQast, or Bloomberg Tax is helpful.
