HSE Intern | New York Air Brake

• Mission: Enhance operational safety, environmental efficiency, and regulatory compliance through program development, data analysis, and incident resolution.
• Tech Stack: Six Sigma tools, Lean, Project Management skills

What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Development & Enhancement: Develop and implement programs and projects focused on improving environmental efficiency, enhancing employee safety, and optimizing equipment ergonomics.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: Monitor, analyze, and report on key operational safety, environmental, and sustainability metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Project Integration & Compliance: Complete essential HSE requirements for new equipment launches, including conducting job hazard analyses, personal protective equipment assessments, machine guarding assessments, waste evaluations, and managing HSE regulatory permitting.
• Incident Investigation & Resolution: Investigate and contribute to the resolution of employee occupational injuries, environmental incidents, and property loss events, aiming to prevent recurrence.
• Process Improvement & Auditing: Assist with process safety improvement projects using Six Sigma and Lean methodologies, and participate in auditing teams to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ISO14001, and OHSAS18001 requirements.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career professional seeking a Bachelor Degree in Health and Safety, Environmental, or Industrial Engineering.
• Experience: No specific years required; experience with multi-tasking and fast-paced environments is essential.
• Skills: Strong communication, organization, and collaboration abilities; resourceful approach to large assignments; self-motivation and ability to learn new assignments quickly.
• Bonus: Knowledge of statistical tools preferred.
