Housekeeping Attendant | Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC)

This position is vital for ensuring guests receive efficient, quality housekeeping services, maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction and upholding the standards of Navy lodging facilities.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Housekeeping Operations: Perform daily service, check-out, deep cleaning, and special project cleaning tasks in guest rooms and common areas, adhering strictly to Lodging program cleaning standards and NGIS protocols, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, and polishing.
• Room Preparation and Maintenance: Stock guest rooms with required amenities, consumables, linen, and kitchen/bathroom items; manage and replace bed linen; inspect and ensure functionality of in-room appliances like coffee makers, televisions (proper programming), alarm clocks (with back-up battery), and phones.
• Deep Cleaning and Specialized Services: Conduct thorough deep cleaning as scheduled or required (e.g., for “pet friendly” or ADA service animal rooms), which includes tasks such as defrosting refrigerators, cleaning windows, drapes, carpets, walls, and moving furniture to clean hidden areas.
• Facility and Equipment Care: Clean and maintain various common area spaces including vending/ice rooms, laundry rooms, elevators, stairwells, and offices; perform basic maintenance on vacuum cleaners; and ensure cleanliness, inventory, and organization of housekeeping and linen carts.
• Safety and Guest Interaction: Apply Blood Borne Pathogen criteria when handling contaminated linens; complete maintenance requests for damaged items; report any valuables, unsafe, illegal, or suspicious activity to supervisors; and communicate professionally with guests, answering questions and providing local information.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Demonstrated experience and knowledge of comprehensive cleaning procedures, proper use of cleaning equipment, and approved cleaning chemicals, including familiarity with applicable Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Experience: Proven ability to operate all in-room appliances (e.g., coffee maker, television, clock radio, telephone) and perform basic maintenance on equipment like vacuum cleaners.
• Skills:
• Proficiency in utilizing Property Management System (PMS) software to update room status via in-room telephone systems.
• Capability to accurately complete daily room status reports and housekeeping assignment sheets.
• Strong ability to interpret, execute, and document cleaning actions in accordance with NGIS Housekeeping Manual and program policy guidance.
• Effective application of sound judgment to schedule and prioritize work assignments, honoring guest requests while adhering to program service standards.
• Ability to navigate web-based Learning Managed System (LMS) and complete online e-learning training.
• Clear and effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written, for interaction with management, staff, and guests.
• Bonus: Spouses of active duty military members may receive preference in hiring if qualified; willingness to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts, and be available as “ALPHA personnel” for inclement weather.
