High School Foundations Summer Internship Program | Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center
The Tone:
This is a paid, full-time, 7-week summer internship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, located primarily in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center is a leading academic medical center providing comprehensive healthcare services. This internship program is designed to introduce high school students to the diverse career pathways within the healthcare industry and equip them with essential workplace skills for future success.
The TL;DR

What You’ll Actually Do
• Work in host departments: Perform a variety of tasks within different host departments to understand daily operations.
• Gain organizational understanding: Develop an increased understanding of how a complex healthcare organization functions.
• Participate in professional development: Engage in a professional development curriculum focused on critical competencies.
• Attend workshops and networking: Participate in a series of workshops for personal and professional growth, mentoring, and networking with peers.
• Rotate through departments: Experience a rotational internship model working in 2-3 different departments to gain a broad perspective of various roles and environments.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Must have completed your sophomore year of high school.
• Experience: At least 16 years old by the first day of the internship (June 22, 2026), and available to commit to the full 7-week program. You must arrange your own housing and transportation.
• Skills: Demonstrate curiosity and a desire to learn, flexibility to navigate change, and a readiness to work hard. Candidates should also be motivated by helping others, exhibit strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities, and show initiative and a strong work ethic.
