VP, Head of Finance, FI & Projects (UAE National) | Mashreq

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Mashreq, located in the United Arab Emirates. Mashreq is a leading financial institution that operates in a multi-country environment with complex financial regulations and evolving product landscapes. This vital position is responsible for providing comprehensive financial planning, forecasting, and performance reporting for the Financial Institutions business. The role directly contributes to proactive commercial and strategic decision-making, ensuring financial oversight and alignment across the group’s wholesale banking agenda.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Location: In-person United Arab Emirates
• Team: Reports to the EVP – Head of Finance for Wholesale Banking, acts as a finance business partner to the Head of Financial Institutions, and provides consolidated data to the Head of Finance CIBG.
• Mission: To provide end-to-end financial planning, forecasting, and performance reporting for the Financial Institutions business, enabling proactive commercial and strategic decision-making.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Lead Financial Planning: Direct end-to-end financial planning, forecasting, and performance reporting for the Financial Institutions business, enabling proactive commercial and strategic decision-making.
• Act as Business Partner: Serve as a finance business partner to the Head of Financial Institutions, supporting strategic initiatives, pricing models, growth plans, and geographic expansion.
• Drive Digital Transformation: Support and lead the execution of digital programs, new product implementations, and finance transformation projects across the FI segment and broader Wholesale Banking agenda, ensuring effective financial integration.
• Ensure Financial Compliance: Oversee compliance with internal financial controls, IFRS standards, and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions, collaborating with Tax, Treasury, Risk, and Compliance teams.
• Enhance Reporting and Analytics: Lead the digitization of finance reporting and business analytics across the FI domain, including deployment of dashboards, self-serve tools, and advanced modeling.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates must possess a CA or MBA (Finance) or an equivalent professional qualification.
• Experience: Requires 10+ years’ experience in banking and financial services, with specific exposure to FI business models, product structures, and demonstrated ability to lead finance support for transformation initiatives across platforms and geographies.
• Skills: Strong commercial acumen, financial modeling skills, sound understanding of regulatory frameworks and accounting standards, and proven leadership and collaboration abilities to influence across functions.
• Bonus: Experience in the digitization of reporting and implementation of advanced analytical tools, coupled with high ethical standards and the ability to operate with discretion in a complex, matrixed organization.
