Head of Finance | Hivemind Capital

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Hivemind Capital, located in New York, NY. Hivemind Capital Partners is a global investment group operating at the intersection of traditional finance and the onchain economy. Founded in 2021, Hivemind allocates institutional capital across a diverse set of investment strategies, and implements technology infrastructure to help assets and institutions transition onto blockchain rails with discipline, durability, and scale. This Head of Finance role is critical to own the end-to-end finance function, upgrading the firm’s financial architecture by building scalable systems and durable financial processes, and driving operational rigor to support strategic decision-making.

• Team: Directly oversees the finance team, including Corporate Accounting and Fund Accounting, ensuring strong execution across operating-company and asset-management finance, and partnering with firm leadership.
• Mission: Own the end-to-end finance function, upgrade the firm’s financial architecture, and provide strategic financial insights to support high-impact decisions across the group.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Strategy: Partner with firm leadership on budgeting, forecasting, liquidity planning, and long-range financial strategy for the management company, funds, and affiliated entities.
• Operations & Controls: Design and implement scalable finance processes, controls, and operating procedures, overseeing all accounting operations, month-end close processes, reconciliations, and consolidated financial reporting.
• Reporting & Analysis: Build financial models and scenario analyses, preparing clear, decision-useful financial reporting for the Executive Team, including performance versus budget, cash runway, liquidity, and operational KPIs.
• Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop the Corporate Accountant and Fund Accountant functions, setting clear standards for accuracy, timeliness, controls, and continuous improvement.
• Compliance & External Relations: Coordinate with external administrators, auditors, tax advisors, and other service providers to support audits, tax processes, K-1 preparation, and investor reporting while reviewing LPAs and governing documents.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Career level: Senior Leadership. Education requirement: CPA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent accounting qualification strongly preferred, coupled with a strong accounting foundation and knowledge of US GAAP, particularly for investments and alternative asset management.
• Experience: 6+ years of professional experience in finance, accounting, or fund operations, with significant experience in fund accounting preferably within hedge funds, venture capital, private equity, or other complex investment environments.
• Skills: Demonstrated FP&A experience, including budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, variance analysis, and management reporting; strong understanding of cryptocurrency and digital asset operations preferred; exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quantitative accuracy; strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: Experience managing or mentoring finance/accounting team members; experience supporting senior leadership, board-level reporting, fundraising, investor diligence, or capital planning; commercial judgment and strategic finance orientation with ambition to grow into CFO-level responsibilities; intrinsically motivated with the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.
