Seasonal General Winery Worker | Jackson Family Wines

The Tone:
This is a seasonal role at Hartford Family Winery, located in Forestville, CA, part of the Jackson Family Wines organization. Hartford Family Winery crafts delicious wines of high personality from unique vineyard sources in the Russian River Valley. This role is crucial during the harvest period, supporting essential cellar operations and contributing directly to the quality and character of the winery’s limited production bottlings. Surviving adversity builds character, and this role helps the winery produce wines that reflect that philosophy.

• Mission: This role supports the winery’s harvest operations by performing essential cellar tasks, contributing to the production of premium wines.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Maintain Equipment: Clean, sanitize, and sterilize all winery equipment to ensure hygienic operations.
• Process Wine: Rack and pump juice and wine, including the movement of necessary hoses and equipment.
• Manage Fermentation: Perform red fermentation management tasks such as pump overs, punch-downs, and delestage.
• Handle Additions: Execute additions to juice and wine as directed to meet production specifications.
• Operate Machinery: Safely operate cellar equipment like pumps, presses, and forklifts for moving barrels and case goods.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Foundational understanding of winemaking or cellar operations.
• Experience: Prior experience in winemaking or cellar operations.
• Skills: Effective communication in English; proficiency in reading, writing, and basic math; ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality, including availability for up to six days a week during harvest.
• Bonus: A keen interest in learning about premium winemaking and an enthusiastic approach to hands-on learning.
