Job Description, Detailed

This is a Hardy Equine Sports Management Intern Pool – Auburn Equestrian position, designated as a pooled posting where applicants are considered as positions become available, potentially resulting in extended “Under Review” periods.

Job Summary:
The internship provides a hands-on experience working with veterinarians, veterinary students, coaches, and barn staff. The primary goal is to help interns master a higher level of equine practices, effectively preparing them for veterinary school and/or careers within the equine industry. The program runs during the Fall and Spring semesters only, with no summer availability.

Essential Functions:
Interns will gain proficiency and master skills in several key areas:
General Horse Care of Equine Athlete: Day-to-day care and maintenance of high-performance horses.
Medical Care of Equine Athlete: Assisting with and learning about medical treatments and health management.
Physical Therapy and Care of Equine Athlete: Understanding and applying physical therapy techniques for equine well-being and recovery.
Management of Equine Events: Gaining experience in the logistical and practical aspects of organizing and running equine events.

Minimum Qualifications:
Academic Major: Must be an Animal Science major.
Enrollment Status: Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at Auburn University.
Academic Level: Must be a junior or senior to apply.
Prior Experience: Prior horse experience is a required prerequisite for application.
Availability: Weekend availability is required.

Pay Rate:
The internship pays $13.00 per hour.

Work Hours:
Interns are expected to work up to 20 hours per week.

Location:
The position is located in Auburn, Alabama.
