Job Description: Hardware Systems Engineering Intern
This internship is a full-time opportunity from January to May 2025, located onsite in Somerville, MA.
Formlabs is looking for a hands-on engineer with a diverse range of skills, from mechanical design to scripting, test design to data analysis, to join their team. This internship will contribute to the development of robust and reliable 3D printers.
Responsibilities:
• Design and execute studies to analyze and evaluate the performance of 3D printers.
• Design and construct test setups to assess the reliability of 3D printer subsystems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with electro-mechanical systems, collaborating with Mechanical, Electrical, and Embedded Firmware teams.
• Develop Python scripts, queries, and tools to support reliability and characterization studies.
• Enhance time management and communication skills to optimize engineering effectiveness.
• Participate in the building and commissioning of prototypes.
Requirements:
• A strong desire to enhance engineering skills and learn about the process of bringing products to market.
• Experience working with mechanical or electro-mechanical systems, along with a desire to understand the inner workings of 3D printers.
• Proficiency in one or more of the following hands-on experiences: lab research, project team membership, previous internships, or work experience.
• An updated resume and portfolio showcasing previous experience and learning outcomes.
