Job Description: Graduation Assignment – Print Artifact Detection
This is a graduation assignment for a Master’s student in applied physics focusing on developing new methods for detecting print artifacts, specifically variations in glossiness. The assignment combines experimental work and data analysis, offering flexibility to focus on either area.
The Assignment:
The goal is to create a measurement method to detect and classify local variations in gloss levels on printed materials. The project begins with optical measurements to detect large deformations and progresses to detecting smaller, more complex deformations. The student will refine the measurement method throughout the assignment.
Specific tasks include:
• Optical Measurement: Conducting hands-on experiments to measure gloss levels on print samples.
• Data Analysis: Analyzing collected data to identify and classify gloss variations.
• Method Development: Refining the measurement method to achieve higher sensitivity and accuracy.
• Collaboration: Working with multiple departments within R&D to gain a broad understanding of the company’s work and the impact of the project.
Required Skills & Experience:
• Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in applied physics.
• Proficiency in coding (Python or Matlab).
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Experience with optical measurements (preferred, but not required).
• Availability for 4-6 months, minimum 4 days per week, starting February 2025. The timeframe is flexible.
What’s Offered:
• Challenging assignment with skilled coaching.
• Internship/Graduation compensation of €500 per month.
