What You’ll Actually Do
• Patient Assessment: Perform pre and post-dialysis evaluations, including vascular access assessment, weight, and vital signs, with initial patient identification.
• Treatment Management: Initiate and discontinue dialysis treatments according to prescribed orders, monitoring patient response and providing interventions as directed by the nurse supervisor.
• Documentation & Reporting: Accurately record all treatment data in the patient health record and report any significant information or changes in patient condition directly to the nurse supervisor.
• Equipment Preparation: Conduct all tasks necessary for the preparation of dialysis treatment, including machine setup, testing, and ensuring the environmental integrity and cleanliness of the treatment area.
• Specimen Collection: Obtain all prescribed laboratory testing, accurately prepare specimens for collection, and ensure they are appropriately labeled and stored.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career professional who has graduated from an accredited nursing program within the past 12 months.
• Experience: Required to obtain a state nursing license within 90 days of employment as a condition of continued employment.
• Skills: Vascular access evaluation and cannulation, vital sign monitoring, dialysis treatment initiation and discontinuation, documentation of patient care, and adherence to infection control protocols.
