Graduate Digital Consultant – Birmingham | Arup

The Tone:
This is a full-time graduate role at Arup, located in Birmingham. Arup is a global consultancy offering advisory and technical expertise across more than 150 disciplines, guiding, planning, and designing the future of the built environment. This role within the Digital Solutions team is critical for applying digital technology and data across the built and natural environment, helping clients with energy transition, flood mitigation, and improving transport systems, ultimately contributing to a sustainable future.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Conduct business analysis, supporting digital strategy development and business case creation.
• Contribute to enterprise and solution architecture, assisting with program management.
• Participate in the design and delivery of various digital services and products.
• Engage in specialized areas such as Service Design, User Experience (UX) Design, User Interface (UI) Design, and Software Development.
• Develop essential core consulting skills, including stakeholder management, effective communication, collaboration, and team working, throughout the digital delivery lifecycle.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An undergraduate or bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in relevant disciplines such as Computer Science (including Cybersecurity), Digital Engineering, Business and Commerce, Service Design, or any other STEM area of study. This is an Entry-Level opportunity for those recently graduated or on track to graduate from their most recent degree before employment starts.
• Experience: No more than 12 months of full-time experience in a comparable role. Applicants must also possess full working rights in the country of application.
• Skills: Demonstrates traits of a changemaker by caring about sustainable development and seeking to make a genuine difference. Exhibits an innovative mind, thinking critically, asking hard questions, and being open to new approaches. Shows characteristics of a growth seeker, being curious, actively seeking feedback, and continuously looking for ways to develop. Acts as an adaptable adventurer, comfortable with uncertainty and readily adjusting as projects and priorities evolve.
• Bonus: Familiarity with Microsoft 365 suite and design and collaboration tools such as Miro, Figma, Draw.IO, Visio, Jira, MS DevOps/ADO is beneficial but not mandatory, as these can be learned on the job.
