Internship Overview

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, in conjunction with the Public Lands Council (PLC), offers this unique internship opportunity for the Summer 2026 semester in Washington, D.C. This program is specifically designed for students interested in the beef industry and federal policy.

Interns will gain valuable experience by engaging directly with NCBA and PLC staff across various functions, including:
Policy Development
Communications Strategy
Membership Engagement

You will work closely with the lobbying and regulatory teams to advance policies crucial to both the beef and sheep industries.

NCBA and PLC are affiliate organizations dedicated to supporting cattle producers and ranching families nationwide. NCBA’s producer-directed and consumer-focused approach unifies policy and marketing efforts for the beef industry. Similarly, PLC strives to maintain a stable business environment for livestock producers holding federal lands grazing permits, enabling them to conserve resources and ranching heritage in the West. Together, these organizations represent the cattle and sheep industries, encompassing producers operating on both public and private lands.

This is a full-time, in-person internship based in the Washington, D.C. office.
Internship Duration: Monday, May 18, 2026 – Friday, August 14, 2026

Responsibilities

As an intern, you will:
• Actively participate in NCBA/PLC lobbying efforts.
• Produce and disseminate daily publications to members.
• Review Federal Register notices and monitor House & Senate Committee hearings.
• Communicate effectively with agency and Hill staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the team.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following requirements:
• Must be a junior or senior undergraduate student or a graduate student.
• Possess a strong background or major in agriculture.
• Demonstrate a clear background in cattle and/or the beef industry.
• Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• Be fully available for the entire duration of the internship.
• Exhibit excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
