General Manager | RL Talent Partners

The Tone:
This is a full-time leadership role at RL Talent Partners’ client, a national specialty contractor, located in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. The client company specializes in environmental remediation, commercial coatings, mechanical insulation, and firestop systems. This position is crucial for leading all operations, financial performance, and team development for a well-established and stable branch. The role became available as the previous Branch Manager advanced to a regional position, creating an opportunity for a leader to step in and continue building on the branch’s strong foundation and growth potential.

• Location: In-person, Los Angeles Metropolitan Area
• Pay: $160000–$265000 yearly
• Team: Reports to a regional role and oversees office staff, project managers, estimators, construction managers, and field labor.
• Mission: Own the complete operational and financial performance of a specialty contracting branch, ensuring project success and fostering team growth.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Lead Branch Operations: Oversee office staff, project managers, estimators, construction managers, and field labor across multiple disciplines.
• Manage Financial Performance: Oversee budgeting, forecasting, job costing, and monthly P&L review for the branch.
• Ensure Project Execution: Guarantee projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements.
• Cultivate Relationships: Maintain and grow relationships with key clients, general contractors, and industry partners.
• Champion Safety & Strategy: Promote a strong safety culture and collaborate with leadership to refine business strategy and support long-term branch growth.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Managerial leader in specialty contracting with P&L oversight.
• Experience: 7+ years in specialty contracting (environmental remediation, commercial coatings, mechanical insulation, firestop, or similar disciplines); experience managing a branch, business unit, or multi-project operation with P&L responsibility; proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.
• Skills: Strong understanding of project financials (job costing, forecasting), construction contracts (change orders, estimating), leadership and communication, ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
• Bonus: Experience working with or around union labor.
