General Manager I | Advance Auto Parts
The Tone:
This is an exempt, full-time leadership role at Advance Auto Parts, located in Sylva, NC. Advance Auto Parts operates a network of retail stores dedicated to providing automotive parts and accessories to both professional customers and do-it-yourself enthusiasts. This role is crucial for inspiring store teams, ensuring customer success, and driving business growth with integrity by overseeing all store operations and developing key customer relationships.

• Mission: Inspire the store team, ensure customer success, and drive business growth with integrity by effectively managing store operations.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint (preferred), POS and Parts lookup systems, inventory systems, testing and diagnostic equipment.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Drive store sales and meet service objectives by managing day-to-day operations and customer interactions.
• Cultivate and expand professional customer relationships and sales by implementing effective action plans and team accountability.
• Lead and develop a high-performing store team through effective hiring, coaching, scheduling, and performance management.
• Maintain operational excellence by ensuring adherence to all inventory and store standards and procedures.
• Oversee daily store operations, ensuring exceptional service delivery to both DIY and professional customers, including manager-on-duty responsibilities and direct assistance with services like battery and wiper installation.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Manager career level. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in business or a related area. Working knowledge of automotive systems preferred.
• Experience: 2-3 years of experience managing a team of 10-20 Team Members in a retail environment. Proven success in managing profitability and demonstrating financial and business acumen.
• Skills: Ability to review and analyze business reports, such as profit and loss statements (P&L). Effective use of Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong communication skills in English to build relationships and give inspiring feedback. Ability to locate and stock parts, with advanced parts lookup and sourcing capabilities. Valid driver’s license required.
• Bonus: Bachelor’s degree in business or a related area. ASE P2 certification or ASE ready equivalent. Proficiency in Spanish. Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint.
