General Manager General Admin | Builders FirstSource
The Tone:
This is a leadership role at Builders FirstSource, America’s largest supplier of building materials, value-added components and building services to the professional market, located at one of its facilities. The General Manager is pivotal in ensuring the location achieves maximum sales and profits with available resources. This role directly contributes to transforming the future of home building and making home ownership more achievable, fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.

• Team: Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise in various departments.
• Mission: Maximize sales and profits for a specific location by overseeing all operational and administrative functions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Location Management: Oversee all aspects of the location, including professional and retail sales, daily operations, production, delivery, purchasing, and inventory control.
• Team Leadership: Recruit, hire, and train employees; motivate the workforce; maintain productivity; and develop successor management by establishing objectives and performance measures.
• Financial Oversight: Manage budget accountability and reporting, establish standard costs and operating budgets, monitor expenses, and implement strategies to improve financial performance.
• Compliance & Safety: Support and enforce company safety initiatives to ensure compliance with all OSHA and DOT requirements, and communicate company policies, procedures, and Sarbanes-Oxley.
• Strategic Growth: Recommend capital improvements based on forecasted demand and equipment efficiency, and institute cost-effective vehicle and equipment maintenance programs.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, with prior managerial experience.
• Experience: Four years related managerial experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have prior experience in the building materials industry.
• Skills: Inventory Control Program Development and Implementation, Financial Budgeting and Reporting, OSHA and DOT Compliance, Proficiency with company “Online system” functions and reports.
