General Labor Clean Up Crew People Wanted!! (Entry Level)

This is a non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $24.87.

Humboldt Sawmill Company is looking for a Clean-Up worker to join our Team in Scotia, CA. This position includes full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K matching, and life insurance.

Job Responsibilities

The Clean-Up Crew is responsible for keeping production areas clean and safe and assisting in other areas of the sawmill in a safe and productive manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Keeps designated areas, as assigned by supervisor, clean and clear of sawdust, wood chips, bark, strips, and other foreign objects.
  • Operates a chainsaw to cut up scrap lumber and broken logs.
  • Uses hand tools to move sawdust, chips, and bark into conveyors, bins, and scoop on a tractor.
  • Operates Bobcat and forklift to transport debris to conveyors or disposal sites.
  • May pull strips off of transfer chains into conveyors to chippers.
  • May keep lumber straight on transfer chains to the trimmer.
  • Empties all garbage cans in and around the sawmill.
  • Provides assistance where needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Experience: 1 month of related experience and/or training.
  • Preferred: Forklift license or ability to train to obtain a license.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
    • Ability to read and understand instructions and memos and write simple sentences.

  • Noise Level: The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Eye protection, hearing protection, leather or rubber gloves, safety shoes, and hard hat.
