Fund Accountant, Alternative Investment Funds | SEI
The Tone:
This is an entry-level position at SEI, located in Oaks, PA, within the rapidly growing Investment Manager Services (IMS) Division. SEI is a leading global provider of investment processing, investment management, and investment operations solutions, reflecting over 50 years of experience in financial services and financial technology. This role is crucial for delivering exceptional accounting and administration services to clients’ assigned hedge and private equity funds. As a Fund Accountant, you will act as an intermediary between the funds and their investment managers, serving as the official record keeper and contributing significantly to the accurate financial reporting of these alternative investments. Comprehensive training and support will be provided to ensure new team members are set up for success in this vital function.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Account Maintenance and Reporting: Utilize accounting skills to price and maintain timely records for hedge and private equity holdings using various external pricing resources. You will perform timely reconciliations regarding Net Asset Values and provide comprehensive accounting reports.
• Transaction Communication: Communicate the transactions associated with the fund(s) and work closely with internal and external clients to provide accurate and thorough accounting packages.
• Audit and Compliance Coordination: As the official record keeper for the fund, you will be involved in the coordination and support of various year-end audit engagements in accordance with GAAP accounting standards. You will perform due-diligence to ensure clients are in compliance with government laws and regulations.
• External Client Engagement: Correspond with external investment managers regarding day-to-day fund inquiries, including fee payments, cash position breaks, and reconciliations. A dedication to quality service is essential for successful client engagement.
• Professional Development: Attend and participate in various IMS and corporate professional development sessions to acquire tools for identifying and improving processes across the division and organization, fostering career growth within a diverse team.
The Must-Haves
• Background: An entry-level professional with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or possess equivalent work experience.
• Experience: Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel are required for this role, and internship experience in a relevant field is preferred.
• Skills: You must possess the self-motivation and drive to monitor multiple client deliverables without sacrificing excellence or quality. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for supporting clients via email and phone calls, alongside strong customer service skills for daily interactions with internal and external clients.
