Fund Accountant | Gen II Fund Services

The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid role at Gen II Fund Services, requiring three days in the office and two remotely at a US office location. Gen II is one of the largest global independent private equity fund administrators, managing over $1 trillion of private capital for clients across diverse investment strategies. As a Fund Accountant, you will be responsible for providing core accounting services, encompassing transaction processing, financial statement preparation, and general ledger maintenance. This role is critical in enabling private fund sponsors to effectively manage their operational infrastructure, financial reporting, and investor communications within a highly experienced industry team.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Cash Management: Process cash transactions efficiently and conduct thorough bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial records.
• General Ledger Management: Record journal entries precisely and diligently maintain the general ledger, serving as the core accounting record.
• Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare comprehensive financial statements, including accompanying footnotes, along with supporting schedules, workpapers, and checklists.
• Investor Reporting: Compile partner capital account information and execute the processing of investor capital calls and distributions.
• Audit Liaison: Serve as a point of contact to liaise effectively with the client’s independent auditors during the audit process.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s degree is a fundamental requirement for this position. While a degree in any field is acceptable, a specialization in accounting is strongly preferred due to the technical nature of the role. This position is suitable for an early career professional looking to build a foundation in fund administration.
• Experience: Candidates should demonstrate an understanding of accounting principles necessary for processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate ledgers, and preparing financial statements. Experience in the practical application of these skills, particularly related to cash management, journal entries, and financial reporting cycles, will be valuable.
• Skills: Core accounting principles, financial statement preparation, general ledger management, bank reconciliation, and precise journal entry recording. The ability to prepare workpapers and handle investor capital transactions is also key.
• Bonus: A Bachelor’s degree specifically in accounting is a preferred qualification, indicating a foundational knowledge directly relevant to the responsibilities of a Fund Accountant.
