This temporary internship is anticipated to run from May 18, 2026, through August 7, 2026, with some flexibility to accommodate your individual start date. We are actively seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.

Your Impact: Shaping the Future with WSP

As a Civil Engineering Intern, you will play a vital role in supporting a diverse range of engineering tasks, contributing to critical infrastructure projects, and developing essential technical, social, and ethical skills. Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting various engineering assignments, fostering a comprehensive understanding of core civil engineering principles.

• Collaborating directly with seasoned engineers on intricate utility substation design projects, gaining exposure to industry best practices and innovative solutions.

• Assisting senior engineers in the meticulous development of detailed structural design calculations and analyses for concrete elements, robust concrete foundations, and steel structures. This critical work will strictly adhere to prevailing industry codes and standards such as ASCE7, ASCE113, ACI 318, AISC 360, NESC, and IEEE.

• Contributing to the creation of precise engineering drawing markups for drafting, ensuring seamless alignment with design calculation results and project specifications.

• Engaging in comprehensive training programs tailored to your assigned tasks, fostering continuous learning and skill development within a professional setting.

• Exercising responsible and ethical decision-making concerning company funds, resources, and conduct, in strict adherence to WSP’s rigorous Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

• Undertaking additional responsibilities as required by evolving business needs, demonstrating adaptability, initiative, and a proactive approach.

Who We’re Looking For: Your Qualifications and Drive

We are searching for bright, highly motivated individuals who are eager to learn and contribute meaningfully to our projects. To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you should possess the following attributes and qualifications:

• Education: Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering, or a closely related, Undergraduate program, with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.

• Eligibility: Must be 18 years of age or older and possess full authorization to work in the United States at the commencement of the internship.

• Passion: A demonstrated and genuine interest in structural design, consulting engineering, and the vital power and utilities industry, coupled with a strong desire to advance your skills relevant to WSP’s impactful work and diverse projects.

• Communication: Proven interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to effectively and professionally articulate ideas to both engineering and non-engineering audiences.

• Collaboration: Highly capable of effectively taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to successfully execute project tasks and contribute to team goals.

• Technical Acumen: Basic proficiency with technical writing, essential office automation software, spreadsheets, modern technology, and relevant engineering tools.

• Safety Conscious: A proven track record of upholding workplace safety standards and the unwavering ability to abide by WSP’s rigorous health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications: Differentiate Yourself

The following qualifications would be a significant advantage and help you stand out from the crowd:

• Advanced Education: Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering, or a closely related, Master’s or PhD program, with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.

• Specialized Knowledge: Successful completion of junior-level courses in power system analysis and/or power system protection.

• Prior Experience: Previous internship experience in engineering or related fields, and demonstrated leadership involvement on campus or within professional organizations.
