Fixed Assets Analyst | Circle K

The Tone:
This is a role at Circle K. Circle K is a global convenience store chain operating across multiple countries, known for its extensive network of stores and commitment to customer service. As a Fixed Assets Analyst, you will play a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity of the company’s extensive asset base. Your work ensures accurate financial records, supports capital project accounting, and upholds compliance with company policies and internal controls, directly impacting Circle K’s operational efficiency and financial health.

• Mission: Ensure company assets are accurately recorded and maintained within the fixed asset system, supporting capital project accounting, financial reporting, and compliance with company policies and internal controls.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Accounting: Accurately process and record capital expenditures, reviewing completed projects (POPA) and preparing Construction in Progress (CIP) files for system upload.
• Financial Reconciliation: Reconcile fixed asset and related general ledger accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting and validate account balances.
• Asset Management & Audits: Coordinate and support store asset audits on a five-year cycle, while assisting with the setup, maintenance, and tracking of fixed assets throughout their lifecycle.
• Reporting & Analysis: Analyze financial data and prepare comprehensive reports that summarize asset activity, account balances, and trends for internal stakeholders.
• Compliance & Controls: Prepare project-related journal entries and adjustments, ensure accurate recording of capital expenditures and invoices, and maintain compliance with internal controls, SOX requirements, and company accounting policies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of fixed asset accounting principles, capital projects, and financial controls is a preferred qualification.
• Experience: One to two years of accounting, finance, or related business experience is preferred. Experience working within a SOX-compliant environment is also preferred.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail are essential, alongside effective written and verbal communication skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
• Bonus: Experience with Microsoft Access is preferred. Familiarity with specific fixed asset/accounting systems such as POPA, PDI, or FAS is a significant plus.
