Debt Capital Markets – Analyst | SMBC Group
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at SMBC Group, located in the US. SMBC Group is a top-tier global financial group with a 400-year history and 80,000 employees worldwide, offering a diverse range of financial services including banking, leasing, and securities. This Analyst position supports the Debt Capital Markets team, playing a critical part in originating and executing financing transactions across Latin America and the Caribbean. This role contributes directly to the group’s investment banking services and global network.

• Team: Collaborates across DCM, Liability Management, Syndicate, Fixed Income, and Banking Coverage teams.
• Mission: Provide support on the origination and execution of financing transactions throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
• Tech Stack: MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, customer setup systems, compliance systems, portfolio management systems, database tracking systems.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Execution: Assist with the structuring and execution of financing transactions.
• Reporting: Prepare and distribute market commentary and economic updates on a daily and weekly basis.
• Analysis: Analyze comparable issuers and assess appropriate new issue pricing indications in consultation with Syndicate.
• Presentation: Generate and maintain client presentations and assist with special ad-hoc projects and initiatives.
• Liaison: Liaise with traders to obtain pricing information and trading performance in secondary markets.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and an interest in continuous learning within corporate finance and financial markets.
• Experience: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize large amounts of information, analyze risk, and identify mitigating factors.
• Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; working proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese (verbal and written); strong attention to detail; highly collaborative.
• Bonus: Ability to organize thoughts and clearly articulate points, both orally and in writing; proactive approach to tackling challenges and seizing opportunities.
