Financial Reporting Intern, Fall 2026 | RWE
The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at RWE, located in Chicago, IL. RWE Americas is a US-based energy company helping to meet the growing demand for energy, operating approximately 13 GW of wind, solar, and battery storage projects across 27 states with a workforce of 2,000 employees. This role supports the Financial Reporting team by assisting with financial reporting, automation initiatives, and documentation improvements. The intern will gain hands-on experience with financial reporting processes, audit support, and the renewable energy industry, while helping improve the accuracy and efficiency of department operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Support the accounting and financial reporting teams in the preparation, review, and optimization of financial reporting models.
• Enhance: Enhance Workiva model automation and process efficiency.
• Assist: Assist in assembling, editing, and standardizing documentation of financial reporting processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and clarity throughout all deliverables.
• Collaborate: Collaborate effectively with team members to collect accounting information for audit support, external auditor inquiries, and ad hoc requests related to financial statements.
• Develop: Develop and expand knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP accounting standards and the renewable energy sector.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in Accounting or Finance at an accredited US university program.
• Experience: No specific years required. Demonstrated experience in data analysis and optimization to streamline data processing and enhance accuracy and efficiency is a plus.
• Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Bonus: Demonstrated experience in data analysis and optimization to streamline data processing and enhance accuracy and efficiency, ability to work onsite in Chicago, IL, and legal authorization to work in the United States.
