Financial Planning & Analysis – Finance Intern | Simon-Kucher

The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at Simon-Kucher, a global consultancy with over 2,000 employees across 30+ countries, located in the United States (Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, New York) with a hybrid work model. This opportunity is designed for a motivated and detail-oriented student interested in gaining hands-on experience in financial planning and analysis. The intern will play a key role within the North American Finance team, supporting crucial functions like financial planning, reporting, business performance analysis, and sales and project controlling, all contributing directly to business decision-making. You will collaborate with finance team members and other business stakeholders, developing essential analytical, reporting, and communication skills within a unique entrepreneurial and values-driven culture.

• Mission: Support financial planning, reporting, and analysis to enable informed business decision-making within the North American Finance team.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Business Performance & Analytics: Support the preparation of recurring financial reports and KPI dashboards, analyzing financial and operational data to identify trends and performance drivers, and performing ad hoc analyses to support business decisions.
• Management Reporting: Assist in creating presentations for management reporting and leadership, preparing data for critical management meetings and leadership presentations.
• Sales & Project Controlling: Assist with sales pipeline reporting and revenue forecasting, support project profitability analysis and resource utilization reporting, and help prepare financial analyses for project reviews.
• Financial Monitoring: Support the monitoring of project financial performance, actively identifying variances to ensure financial health.
• General FP&A Support: Maintain financial databases and reporting files, collaborating with finance team members on cross-functional projects and supporting ad hoc requests from finance and business leadership.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• Experience: Ability to intern full-time for 3-6 months. Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required for U.S. office locations, as Simon-Kucher does not offer sponsorship, and CPT/OPT are considered restricted forms of work authorization.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with PowerPoint; strong communication and organizational skills; the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team; curiosity, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. Additionally, the ability to go into the office 1-2 times per week is required.
