The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Houlihan Lokey, located in Minneapolis, MN. Houlihan Lokey is a leading global investment bank recognized for delivering independent strategic and financial advice to corporations, financial sponsors, and governments across a wide range of services including mergers and acquisitions, capital solutions, financial restructuring, and financial and valuation advisory. This role is crucial for assisting with complex financial restructuring transactions, providing an opportunity to contribute to the firm’s extensive transaction volumes and support clients in achieving their most critical goals during distressed situations.

• Team: Financial Analysts are typically members of deal teams comprising at least one Managing Director, Vice President, Associate, and Financial Analyst.
• Mission: This person assists with a variety of financial restructuring transactions, including creditor- and debtor-side restructurings and distressed mergers & acquisitions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Advisory: Advise clients in out-of-court and Chapter 11 restructurings.
• Financings: Execute debt and equity financings for clients.
• M&A Services: Provide distressed M&A advisory services to clients.
• Investing: Participate in special-situation principal investing.
• Negotiations: Engage in complex negotiations on behalf of our clients.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S./B.B.A.) in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Applied Economics is required, including course work in accounting and finance.
• Experience: 1-3 years of relevant work experience in similar roles within investment banking, with demonstrated knowledge of accounting and finance. Operational financial modeling and valuation experience is highly recommended.
• Skills: Strong financial and computer skills, strong analytical abilities, and excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills.
• Bonus: A fundamental understanding of valuation theory, methodologies, and applications. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff, a strong work ethic, and careful attention to detail.
