Financial Analyst, External Reporting | AutoZone

In this role, you will be a key member of the External Reporting team, vital for achieving the organization’s financial goals and maintaining robust financial controls through accurate reporting and adherence to internal control policies. Your contributions will be essential in supporting financial reporting, period close processes, and financial planning activities.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support Reporting: Assist in preparing team deliverables, including both external and internal financial reports, and manage activities related to the period close process.
• Prepare Entries: Prepare journal entries using strong accounting skills and data analysis techniques to ensure financial reporting aligns with GAAP and company policies.
• Reconcile and Analyze: Reconcile balance sheet accounts and analyze account activity for compliance with GAAP and company policies, while also analyzing P&L activity to identify root causes of variances to budget/forecast and highlight trends.
• Perform Ad Hoc Analyses: Complete ad hoc analyses, including data extraction and manipulation, as requested, providing valuable insights to support decision-making.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, enabling a foundational understanding of financial principles.
• Experience: 1-2 years of experience in accounting, finance, or auditing, with internship experience being acceptable.
• Skills: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, and strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Bonus: Master’s degree or MBA, or CPA certification; experience in PeopleSoft/Oracle financial systems.
