Financial Analyst | International Paper

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at International Paper, located in Buffalo, NY. • Mission: Analyze facility performance and recommend actions to maximize financial returns.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Performance Analysis: Analyze operational results, operating trends, customer profitability, capital projects, incentive plan calculations, budgeting, and forecasting to assist management in achieving objectives and maximizing financial return.
• Process & Control Management: Collaborate with the Controller to develop and refine accounting efficiencies, improve process documentation, and actively maintain and enhance internal control policies and procedures.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare journal vouchers, participate in month-end close processes, and ensure accurate and timely processing of daily, weekly, and monthly financial responsibilities and various reporting requirements.
• Transaction & Compliance: Investigate, review, and evaluate diverse financial transactions, recommending appropriate accounting treatment, and ensure familiarity with and adherence to financial policies and internal controls.
• Operational Support: Perform daily financial activities for the plant, utilize systems for research analysis, and review production hours entered into the payroll system for accuracy.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, business, or a related field.
• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of accounting and/or finance experience.
• Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of general business management principles, internal financial management, industry business practices, the ability to influence peers and management, and effective communication with business leaders at various levels.
• Bonus: CPA or CMA certification is a plus. Prior work experience in a manufacturing facility, particularly in corrugated, printing, or packaging, is highly desirable.
