This entry-level position is vital for supporting the Financial Planning unit by assisting with budget preparation, financial reporting, and analysis. What You’ll Actually Do
• Reporting and Analysis: Assist in the preparation of comprehensive financial reports and detailed analysis for both management and external agencies, including the creation of charts and diagrams illustrating prior, current, and projected financial results for evaluation.
• System and Efficiency Improvement: Utilize various financial information systems, developing a strong knowledge base in these systems and data visualization tools, and assist staff in reviewing operational procedures to identify ways to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Departmental Collaboration and Support: Cultivate relationships with assigned department managers and administrative staff to understand their operations, provide technical support for budgeting systems and procedures, and assist in resolving financial report variances from approved budgets.
• Budget Management and Presentation: Monitor budget expenditures, prepare detailed reports and analysis on trends, compile budgetary and fiscal data from departments, review budget requests, and assist in the development and presentation of fiscal data at budget hearings.
• Financial Record Compliance: Prepare and maintain accurate accounting records, ensuring full compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies, as well as adhering to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) guidelines.

• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field.
