Finance Internship Job Description:
This is a year-long internship program with a full-time, on-site experience during the summer and part-time work during the school year. Interns must relocate to Milwaukee for the summer. The program includes professional development workshops, senior leadership Q&As, volunteer initiatives, and networking/social events.
As a Finance Intern, you will work alongside your hiring manager, mentor, and team on tasks critical to Northwestern Mutual’s success. The internship is designed to help you identify and develop your future career goals. Specific responsibilities within the Financial Planning and Analysis department may include:
• Preparing preliminary internal sales reporting and financial operating statements.
• Assisting with the creation of the Mid-Year Forecast and Annual Operating Plan.
• Researching, quantifying, and presenting findings related to initiatives, sales variances, and product changes.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• A cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
• Previous work or classroom experience in one or more of the following areas: Finance, Accounting, Investments, Data Science, or IT Management.
Preferred Skills and Proficiencies:
• Previous Finance, Accounting, or Investments internship and/or relevant project experience.
• Experience with Power BI and other data analytics tools.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Confirmed analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• High degree of self-motivation, passion, and a strong desire to learn.
• Ability to balance multiple priorities.
Compensation:
The compensation range is $16.50 – $30.00 per hour. The actual pay rate depends on academic tenure, major, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, and location. The listed range is a standard pay structure, with some locations (like California) offering potentially higher rates.
