Finance Intern | Heraeus

The Tone:
This is a temporary internship at Heraeus Quartz North America, located in Buford, GA. Heraeus is a family-owned global technology group that enables customers to innovate by making displays foldable, developing medical solutions, or revitalizing precious metals. The Heraeus Covantics division, with a global team of over 2,000 employees, specializes in high-purity quartz glass, ceramics, and composites for the information, telecommunications, specialty fibers, semiconductor, and optics industries. This role offers the intern hands-on experience in supply chain finance, cost analysis, financial reporting, and cross-functional collaboration, directly supporting critical financial analyses for the company.

• Mission: Assist with financial analysis related to freight costs, inventory management, manufacturing and operational variances, and tariff impacts.
• Tech Stack: Excel, Power BI, SAP, ERP systems

What You’ll Actually Do
• Invoice Processing: Code, approve, and analyze freight and tariff invoices.
• Tariff Reporting: Prepare comprehensive tariff analysis and reporting.
• Inventory Analysis: Support inventory valuation, reserve analysis, and accuracy initiatives while identifying slow-moving, excess, or obsolete inventory trends.
• Cost Variance Reporting: Analyze and prepare reports on purchase price, manufacturing, and operational cost variances for management review.
• Monthly Close Support: Assist with monthly close activities and financial reporting, utilizing systems and Excel to analyze large datasets.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a degree in Finance or Accounting.
• Experience: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and data analysis.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; strong attention to detail and organization skills; ability to work independently and collaborate across teams.
• Bonus: Experience with Power BI, SAP, or other ERP systems.
