Financial Analyst II | Blue Origin
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Blue Origin, located in Longmont, CO. Blue Origin is dedicated to developing reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems, envisioning a future where millions live and work in space for Earth’s benefit. This Financial Analyst II position supports the corporate functions, specifically within the Honeybee Robotics business unit, which manufactures customized motion control solutions and develops space mining robots and systems. The role is crucial for contributing to the mission of reducing the cost of access to space by partnering with program leadership to drive financial performance and strategic programmatic decisions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Automation Development: Build and implement automation solutions using AI, Excel, SQL, and approved tooling to effectively reduce cycle time and error rates in financial processes.
• Data Management: Mine and reconcile financial data across various systems, working to improve data quality through comprehensive root-cause analysis and upstream fixes implemented with process owners.
• Financial Close & Reporting: Assist in the complete month-end close process, including preparation and reconciliation of journal entries and accurate customer invoicing, and develop reporting that provides insights into key business drivers.
• Budget and Performance Management: Partner with department owners to manage expense budgets and collaborate with program management to continually monitor financial performance and update estimates for individual projects, analyzing their financial performance.
• Process Improvement & ERP Optimization: Build and continuously enhance financial processes, including developing robust financial models, identifying key performance drivers, introducing new analytical methods, and leveraging the ERP system (IFS) to move manual processes into the system.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related analytical field. Intellectual curiosity in the products, underlying business processes, and the impact of financial decisions within the Honeybee Robotics business unit.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years demonstrating successful performance in a relevant financial analysis role. Experience in extracting and utilizing data from both qualitative and quantitative sources to effectively support business planning and performance measurement.
• Skills: Moderate proficiency in data extraction using SQL programming; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Demonstrated ability to earn trust and maintain positive, professional relationships with key business partners and the broader finance team.
• Bonus: Experience with IFS, Databricks, D365, or other ERP and BI tools; prior experience supporting government contracts; successful support of programs through DCMA/DCAA, joint site surveillance, or other government audits.
