Financial Analyst III | Blue Origin

The Tone:
This is a full-time role within Blue Origin’s corporate functions, providing centralized support across its business units, functions, and locations. Blue Origin is dedicated to developing reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems, working towards the vision of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. The Exploration Systems business unit specifically focuses on developing space mining robots and systems. This Financial Analyst III role is crucial for contributing to Blue Origin’s mission by partnering with program leadership to drive financial performance and programmatic decisions within this innovative space exploration context.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Monitoring: Collaborate with program management to continually monitor financial performance and estimates.
• Performance Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of financial performance for individual projects and the broader Exploration Systems business unit, developing reporting that provides insights into key drivers.
• Strategic Forecasting & Partnership: Partner with business leadership to align quarterly forecasts for revenue, margin, and cash with strategic goals, performing risk and opportunity assessments, and serving as a trusted advisor to ensure teams operate within financial constraints.
• Process & Model Development: Build and continuously improve financial processes, including developing financial models, identifying key performance drivers, and introducing new analytical methods.
• ERP Integration & Close: Develop strong knowledge of the ERP system (IFS) and lead efforts to move manual financial processes into the system, also assisting in the month-end close process, including preparing and reconciling journal entries and customer invoicing.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related analytical field.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years demonstrating performance in a relevant financial role, with experience extracting qualitative and quantitative data from various sources to support business planning and performance measurement.
• Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; ability to earn trust and maintain positive, professional relationships with key business partners and the broader finance team; intellectual curiosity in the products, underlying business processes, and the impact of financial decisions within the Exploration Systems business unit.
• Bonus: Moderate proficiency in data extraction using SQL programming; experience working in a fast-paced environment; experience with IFS, Databricks, D365, or other cost/schedule integration tools; experience with supporting government contracts; successful support of programs through DCMA/DCAA, joint site surveillance, or other government audits; Earned Value Management (EVM) experience (e.g., Control Account Management) on an EVM-required contract; proposal support including pricing for bids requiring certified pricing.
