Assistant Accountant (Austin) | Turner Construction Company
The Tone:
This is a full-time, regular role at Turner Construction Company, located in Austin, TX. Turner is a major general contractor with a significant presence in the construction industry, focusing on diverse construction projects. This Assistant Accountant position is critical for supporting the financial and administrative operations of a profit center, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, GAAP, and company policies, which directly contributes to the success and financial health of projects within the Austin division.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Billing: Assist in managing client billing and accounts receivable to ensure all contractual requirements are met.
• Financial Auditing: Support the auditing of client billing and project ledgers, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, GAAP, and company policy.
• Accounts Payable: Process accounts payable for both vendor and subcontractor invoices, verifying lien waivers and contractual/insurance requirements are in place.
• Monthly Close & Closeout: Contribute to the monthly financial close process by posting or accruing client bills and project costs, and assist with project financial closeout.
• Audit Support: Provide support for all internal and external audit requests, ensuring accurate and timely information.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited degree program, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. This is an entry-level position.
• Experience: General knowledge of basic accounting principles. Proficiency with data entry, databases, and computer applications, including MS Office.
• Skills: Highly organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and capable of self-checking work. Professional written and verbal communication abilities. Able to work independently with some oversight, as well as in a team environment.
