Host Guest is a U.S.-based startup, launched in 2024 and officially registered in Georgia in 2025. Its platform connects international and out-of-state students with verified host families across the United States, aiming to provide a housing experience that is safe, affordable, and rooted in cultural connection. The company is currently preparing for its national launch in August 2025. The platform is built and live, and the fully remote team comprises over 20 interns across various departments including design, product, marketing, outreach, operations, and data. As Host Guest grows and scales, it seeks support to organize and clarify its internal budget and financial structure.
Job Description
The Role: Finance & Accounting Intern
This is a high-trust, remote position focused on supporting internal budget tracking, expense coordination, and overall startup financial organization. The intern will work closely with the Project & Operations Lead, the CEO, and team leads across departments to ensure financial processes remain clear and on track. This role offers real-world experience in how early-stage companies manage budgeting during growth, providing an opportunity to take ownership of essential financial tracking and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Track intern stipends, create payment logs, and manage payout timelines.
• Build and maintain clean budget trackers for operational and departmental expenses.
• Organize documentation for platform-related costs, tool subscriptions, and team-wide resource spending.
• Coordinate with hiring leads and the CEO to confirm role allocations and financial approvals.
• Support the preparation of internal reports for burn rate, forecasting, and budgeting status.
• Log platform development and technology costs with the product and tech teams.
• Ensure that all records are updated weekly and properly filed in shared folders.
• Collaborate with the data team to align budget reports and project status updates.
Qualifications:
• Must be based in the United States.
• Currently studying or recently graduated in accounting, finance, or business.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in finance-related roles or internships.
• Skilled in Google Sheets, Excel, or similar spreadsheet and tracking systems.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable.
• Comfortable working in a remote environment and managing deadlines independently.
• Strong communication skills with a professional, proactive attitude.
• Bonus if you have experience in a startup, cross-department coordination, or tool tracking.
Compensation & Internship Structure:
• Internship runs from July 10 to September 6, 2025.
• This is a remote role with a flexible schedule of 10 to 15 hours per week.
• A guaranteed base stipend of $500 for the internship period.
• An additional bonus of up to $500 is available based on accuracy, consistency, and support during the national launch.
• Strong performers may be offered extended opportunities in operational or financial support after the launch.
