Solar Turbines, a Caterpillar company, is seeking enthusiastic and driven individuals for an exciting 4-year rotational program designed for entry-level/early talent candidates. This program will equip you with the skills and experience to become a successful Field Service Engineer/Representative, shaping the future of product support for Solar’s advanced machinery.

Program Structure and Responsibilities:

This comprehensive program begins with a robust 12-month Early Talent Training Program, followed by a 3-year commitment as a Field Service Engineer/Representative in one of our U.S. district offices. Throughout the program, you will be responsible for:

  • Extensive Training: The first year involves intensive training at Solar’s Global Headquarters in San Diego, CA, and the Worldwide Overhaul Facility in DeSoto, TX. This includes online web-based training, instructor-led classroom sessions, and hands-on lab training.
  • On-the-Job Experience: Participate in structured on-the-job training (OJT) focusing on broad exposure to Solar’s products and the Customer Service organization. This OJT will be conducted in the field and supervised by our Domestic District offices, coordinating with commissioning and maintenance field teams at customer sites, controls engineering assignments, the Customer Service Response Center (San Diego, CA), and the Worldwide Overhaul Facility (DeSoto, TX).
  • Mentorship: Receive guidance and mentorship from experienced Regional Field Engineers (RFE’s) and Field Service Representatives (FSR’s) during all hands-on training.
  • Technical and Administrative Support: Provide essential technical and administrative support to our District offices, assisting with our customers’ machinery.
  • EHS Compliance: Become proficient in both Solar and customer Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Management Systems, ensuring strict compliance with specified EHS requirements and best practices. You will also provide guidance to other Field Service Representatives and personnel visiting customer sites.
  • Travel and Customer Interaction: Upon completion of the initial training, you will be based at a U.S. district office and provided with a company vehicle to travel to customer sites within that district. This is a hands-on position requiring extensive travel, overtime, direct customer service interface/interaction, and potential offshore assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a discipline or focus in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aeronautical Engineering.
  • GPA: Minimum GPA of 2.80 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Experience: 0-2 years related experience. This is an entry-level/early talent position.
  • Flexibility: Must be able and willing to travel extensively, relocate, and work overtime.
  • Personal Attributes: Possess high integrity, a high level of self-confidence, the ability to handle high-pressure deadlines and situations, and communicate in a professional manner.

Compensation & Benefits:

The base salary for this role is $75,500. Our total rewards package extends beyond the base salary and includes:

Additional Information:

  • Work Location: This position requires working onsite five days a week, with significant travel to customer sites after the initial training phase.
