The Opportunity: Field Sales and Merchandising Representative (Miami Area)
Basemakers is seeking a dedicated, full-time Field Sales and Merchandising Representative for the Miami territory, covering areas such as Miami, Hialeah, South Beach, and Homestead. This independent yet highly collaborative role is crucial to our success, focusing on enhancing the in-store presence of our brand partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Field-Based Work: Operate 100% in the field, commuting daily in your vehicle to visit 6-8 grocery stores (e.g., Whole Foods, Sprouts, Publix, Fresh Market) per day.
- Route Management: Efficiently manage a specified route, visiting each store 2-3 times a month.
- Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, starting early mornings. Flexibility may be required to work on weekends to make up for missed time during the week.
- Independent Operation & Collaboration: Work autonomously while engaging with grocery store managers, brand representatives, and internal Basemakers teams (Brand Partner Managers, District Managers, Sales Directors).
- Data Capture: Utilize mobile apps (Repsly, Slack, Gmail, Google Workspace) to capture critical in-store data, including photos, notes, and forms.
- In-Store Presence Ownership: Take full responsibility for improving brand presence through:
- Display execution and void filling.
- Securing off-shelf displays and secondary/tertiary placements.
- Effective shelf management and product positioning.
- Placement of racks, equipment, and Point-of-Sale (POS) materials.
- Building strong relationships with grocery managers to become a trusted advisor.
- Identifying and addressing in-store needs and pain points, offering assistance to store staff when appropriate.
Who We Are Looking For (Qualifications):

- Skills: Strong problem-solving, analytical, influencing, and negotiation abilities.
- Experience: Previous experience in grocery store operations, route sales, brand ambassadorship, brand vendor sales, merchandising, general retail, or similar territory sales is highly valued.
- Sales Acumen: Premium selling skills preferred, or a strong desire to quickly learn and apply sales techniques.
- Passion: Enthusiasm for representing natural, organic, and specialty food and beverage brands.
- Self-Direction: Proven track record of success in a highly self-directed environment.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, comfortable utilizing smartphone apps for team interaction.
- Performance Driven: Ability to achieve monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics.
- Professionalism: Maintain a professional demeanor with colleagues, distributors, retail partners, and consumers.
- Vehicle Requirements: Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, current registration, and auto insurance. Willingness to drive many miles daily in your own vehicle and transport promotional materials/minimal product quantities.
- Physical Capability: Ability to perform physical requirements (see below).
Physical Requirements:
This role involves moderate to high levels of physical activity, including:
- Standing, walking, reaching, and grasping for extended periods.
- Climbing ladders, bending, and kneeling to access and move products.
- Consistently lifting up to 10 lbs.
- Occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation:
$56,600 OTE (On-Target Earnings) at average levels:
- Base Salary: $47,000
- Monthly Commissions: Estimated average of $800 (expected range: $119 lows to $2,204 highs per month). Commission potential is uncapped and based on personal performance in securing incremental placements and exposure opportunities for brands within grocery stores.
- Monthly Vehicle Reimbursement: $400
