Feed Foreman | Cactus Feeders
The Tone:
This is a full-time, salaried, entry-level role at Cactus Feeders, located in Hale Center, Texas. Cactus Feeders is a legacy cattle feeder founded in 1975, committed to animal care, operational excellence, and employee development, operating 15 feedyards and producing over one million fed cattle annually. This role plays an important part in the daily success of feedyard operations by helping monitor cattle feed intake, coordinating daily feed delivery activities, supervising feed truck operations, and supporting employee training, safety, and operational efficiency. The Feed Foreman will participate in a structured rotational training program to gain a broad understanding of feedyard operations.

• Mission: This person ensures accurate, efficient, and timely feed delivery to cattle while supporting overall feedyard operational success and employee development within the Feed Delivery department.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Monitor Intake: Evaluate cattle behavior, feed intake, bunk conditions, weather, and cattle performance to determine daily feed requirements.
• Coordinate Delivery: Coordinate feed delivery schedules with hay delivery, cattle receiving, and shipping activities to maintain smooth operations.
• Supervise Operations: Supervise the daily activities of the feed truck crew to ensure feed is delivered accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
• Maintain Equipment: Coordinate preventative maintenance for feed trucks, scales, feeding systems, and related equipment to ensure reliability.
• Support Team: Assist with new employee orientation, training, and daily coaching of Feed Delivery employees, and support the Feed Delivery Manager with employee scheduling and performance reviews.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Candidates should possess an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agricultural Business, Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Ranch Management, or a related agriculture-related field, demonstrating knowledge of cattle production.
• Experience: Prior experience in one or more livestock production sectors, including cow-calf, stocker, or feedyard operations. Equivalent agricultural experience showcasing knowledge of cattle production and a desire to build a career in the cattle feeding industry will also be considered.
• Skills: A strong work ethic, sound judgment, a genuine interest in livestock production and animal care, strong observation and problem-solving skills, effective communication, dependability, accountability, and a willingness to learn.
