Overview:

Clyde Companies and its subsidiaries are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Facilities Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute significantly to various day-to-day aspects of our facilities operations. Under the direct guidance of our experienced facilities management team, you will play a vital role in maintaining the functionality, safety, and cleanliness of our diverse facilities. This valuable internship provides practical exposure to facility management best practices, operational procedures, and the critical importance of fostering a productive and safe work environment.

Key Activities:

As a Facilities Intern, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in conducting regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs, assess safety hazards, and ensure adherence to cleanliness standards.
  • Supporting the implementation and execution of preventive maintenance programs for various equipment and systems to guarantee optimal functionality and longevity.
  • Collaborating with external vendors and contractors for repair and maintenance projects, which includes obtaining competitive quotes, scheduling services efficiently, and overseeing the quality of work performed.
  • Aiding in the comprehensive management of facility-related documentation, such as maintaining accurate maintenance logs, processing work orders, and updating inventory records.
  • Assisting with the coordination of office moves, renovations, and strategic space utilization projects as required.
  • Providing essential support to the facilities management team in various administrative tasks and contributing to special projects as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal, problem-solving, and technical skills.
  • Possession of strong strategic thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook), Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and accounting software.

Education and Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • A strong interest in facilities management, operations, or related disciplines.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Prior internship or work experience in facilities management, construction, or a related field is a significant plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the operation and maintenance of a variety of tools, including but not limited to power tools, hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, pliers, sanders, etc.
  • A strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures is essential.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform moderate work, occasionally exerting up to 50 lbs. of force.
  • Capable of working in the field alongside the facilities maintenance crew, performing manual labor.
  • Possess the stamina to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in various indoor and outdoor environments and adapting to different weather conditions.

Duration and Compensation:

  • This is a 3-6 month internship position.
  • There is a possibility of extension based on individual performance and evolving business needs.
