About the Role and Team
GFT’s environmental expertise spans a wide range of areas. Our Natural Resources and Permitting Business Unit focuses on:
- Wetland delineations
- Protected species evaluations
- Impact assessments
- Watershed studies
- Sediment evaluations
- Baseline natural resource studies
- Stream assessments
- Forest stand evaluations
- Impact mitigation
- Federal and state regulatory processes related to natural resource impacts
We support a wide range of infrastructure projects including transportation, water resources, railway, energy, and public utilities.
Key Responsibilities
During your internship, you will work on a highly functioning team and aid in providing environmental services for a wide variety of projects. You’ll receive guidance, supervision, and mentorship by experienced engineers and environmental scientists with your success as the goal. You will be challenged to connect your academic coursework to real life application with the goal of helping you continue your studies with experience.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Supporting the natural resources business line with field and office assignments pertaining to wetlands, streams, protected species, and permitting.
- Participating in report preparation and the assemblage of report sections and attachments.
- Assisting with data collection, tabulation, and basic review of environmental sampling results and compliance tracking information.
- Aiding in the preparation of project documents and activities including but not limited to: reports, letters, charts, tables, photo logs, permit forms, and field records.
- Conducting preliminary regulatory research to support federal and state permit applications.
- Collaborating with other team members across disciplines.
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring To Our Firm:
- Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Environmental Science, Biology, Wildlife Management, Ecology, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in natural resources, wildlife, ecology, regulations and consulting.
- Ability to work both in the field and office as needed.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and engage in projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel to project sites.
Compensation
The salary range for this role is $21.00 – $28.00 per hour. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
Logistics
- Location: Mechanicsburg, PA
- Core Business Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Employment Status: Hourly
