Job Description: Facility Maintenance Technician (Entry-Level)

PlaneSmart! Aviation is seeking an enthusiastic and dependable Entry-Level Facility Maintenance Technician (FMT) to join our team. In this hands-on role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring our hangar and office environments remain clean, safe, organized, and operate smoothly. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in doing the basics exceptionally well, possesses a mechanical inclination, and is eager to learn about business aviation operations.

What You’ll Do:

Daily Facility Upkeep

  • General facility maintenance: Perform light bulb changes, minor repairs, basic troubleshooting, and preventative checks across the facility.
  • Cleanliness and Presentation: Keep hangar and office areas immaculate and presentable, including janitorial tasks, trash removal, cleaning restrooms, and maintaining break areas.
  • Safety & Standards: Uphold high safety and cleanliness standards in all work areas and common spaces.

Supplies & Organization

  • Restocking & Inventory: Restock and organize all facility supplies, including paper products, cleaning supplies, and basic shop necessities.
  • Errands: Conduct local errands and supply runs as needed to maintain stock levels.
  • Storage Management: Assist in keeping storage areas, closets, and maintenance supplies well-organized and inventoried.

Vendor Coordination (Support Role)

  • Work Order Management: Submit and track work orders for third-party vendors (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing, roll-up doors).
  • On-site Coordination: Escort vendors on-site, clearly communicate job needs, and ensure work areas are accessible.
  • Reporting: Report completion status and any necessary follow-up actions to leadership and operations teams.

Operations Support (Light)

  • Team Coordination: Coordinate effectively with line service and hangar teams regarding access, timing, and readiness of work areas.
  • Event Support: Provide assistance with simple setup tasks for meetings, small events, and visiting guests as required.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Entry-Level Experience: Some prior experience in facilities, maintenance, warehouse, construction, auto shop, or general “hands-on” work is beneficial.
  • Aptitude & Dependability: Mechanically inclined, highly dependable, and eager to learn new skills.
  • Documentation Skills: Comfortable following checklists and documenting completed tasks with basic notes or photos.
  • Work Ethic: Possesses a strong work ethic and exceptional attention to detail, particularly concerning cleanliness and safety.
  • Physical Requirements: Capable of lifting and carrying typical supplies and remaining on your feet throughout the day.
  • Driving: Must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable making local supply runs.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with basic hand and power tools.
  • Familiarity with work order systems (even informal ones).
  • An interest in aviation, airport operations, or working around aircraft.
