Job Title: Entry-Level Environmental Engineer, Scientist or Geologist
Location: Arlington, VA
Job Summary
Langan is seeking a motivated entry-level Environmental Engineer, Scientist, or Geologist to join our collaborative team in Arlington, VA. This role is integral to providing essential site exploration activities within a continuous learning environment. The successful candidate will work alongside top industry leadership on a complex and diverse portfolio of environmental projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform field inspections and environmental investigations.
- Conduct air, soil, gas, and groundwater sampling, as well as remediation of contaminated properties.
- Assist in the planning and execution of field investigations, including logging borings, collecting samples, performing field tests, and meticulously collecting and recording data.
- Perform routine and special calculations related to project tasks.
- Provide field oversight for remediation activities and subcontractors, ensuring strict compliance with job specifications.
- Identify and implement solutions for both routine and more complex field and/or laboratory problems, accurately documenting all results.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding any problems encountered on project sites.
- Assist with the preparation of technical reports, specifications, and plans; support data management and evaluation; and contribute to environmental assessment and remediation efforts.
- Perform other duties as requested to support project needs.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology.
- Academic Standing: Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Experience: 0+ years of work-related experience.
- Preferred Experience: Prior relevant internship or professional work experience is preferred.
- Certifications (Engineering Graduates): Applicants with an engineering degree are preferred to have EIT Certification, or current registration for the FE exam.
- Technical Acumen: Strong technical education, professional demeanor, and a keen desire to learn.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
- Teamwork: Ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment.
- Mobility: Possess a valid driver’s license in good standing and reliable transportation access to remote job site locations.
- Work Availability: Availability to work overtime as needed.
- Citizenship Requirement: Due to the nature of our federal contracts, U.S. citizenship is a client-mandated requirement for this role.
