Entry-Level Chemist

A nutraceutical company in Commerce, CA is seeking an enthusiastic Entry-Level Chemist to join their team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry to gain valuable hands-on experience in a laboratory setting. No prior industry experience is required – just a strong willingness to learn and grow!

Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Entry-Level Chemist will perform chemical tests, analyses, and investigations utilizing standard methods and specified criteria. The work primarily involves analysis using established methods or adapting standard methods. The chemist may also contribute to specific phases of more complex projects under managerial direction, focusing on positively impacting the environment within a feedback-rich work team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Devise new processes and methods for testing solutions and products.
  • Analyze organic and inorganic compounds to determine chemical and physical properties, utilizing wet chemistry and various instrumentation.
  • Induce changes in the composition of substances by introducing heat, light, energy, and chemical catalysts.
  • Conduct research on manufactured products to develop and improve products.
  • Research the composition, structure, properties, relationships, and reactions of matter.
  • Prepare standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, and tests.
  • Assist in training new employees on procedures and techniques for instrumentation and wet chemistry.

Requirements & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemistry or a related discipline.
  • Industry or undergraduate experience with chemical sample preparation.
  • Familiarity with GC, HPLC, wet chemistry, and analytical instrumentation (can be academic experience).
  • No industry experience is required; a willingness to learn and grow is key.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry from a four-year college or university.
  • One to two years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (includes academic/internship experience).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Proficiency in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Effective presentation skills and the ability to respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in ‘Wet Chemistry’.
  • Proficiency in using instruments such as HPLC and GC.
  • Ability to use a PC with MS Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including probability, statistical inference, and geometry.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts like fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

Pay and Benefits

  • Pay Range: $23.00 – $25.00/hr.
