Entry-Level Accountant | The University at Albany Foundation
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at The University at Albany Foundation, located in Albany, NY. This Entry-Level Accountant position is crucial for ensuring sound financial stewardship by accurately processing revenue and maintaining financial records, directly contributing to the Foundation’s mission. What You’ll Actually Do
• Revenue Processing: Process contributions, deposits, and other revenue transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
• Reconciliation & Closing: Prepare account reconciliations and assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Accounts Receivable: Assist with accounts receivable and other routine accounting functions.
• Reporting & Audit: Support financial reporting and audit preparation efforts.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial transaction processing.
• Experience: No specific years required, but prior internship or work experience in accounting, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or financial operations is preferred.
• Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; excellent attention to detail and accuracy; proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word; ability to maintain confidentiality when handling financial and donor information.
• Bonus: Experience with cash receipts, reconciliations, or general ledger accounting; familiarity with nonprofit accounting principles and donor-restricted funds; experience using Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT or a similar accounting system.
