Job Description: Engineering Internship (Summer 2025)

Amphenol High Speed Products Group is seeking multiple interns for Summer 2025 across several locations (Nashua, NH; Valley Green, PA; Hamden, CT; Hampton, NH). Interns will support various engineering teams, including Field Applications Engineering, Development Engineering, Process Engineering, Product Development Engineering, and Signal Integrity Engineering.

Responsibilities will vary depending on the specific team but may include:

Product R&D Support: Assisting in all aspects of product research and development, encompassing mechanical design and assembly of electrical cables, connectors, and components.
Testing and Quality Control: Conducting product integrity testing, documenting test results, and performing component/assembly quality inspections.
Technical Documentation: Creating and maintaining technical documentation.
Laboratory Work: Performing general laboratory functions, potentially including testing high-speed interconnect products using equipment like VNAs or TDRs.
Prototyping: Building and assembling prototypes.
CAD Work: Utilizing CAD software (Pro/E or Solidworks) for 3D modeling and creating engineering drawings.
Simulation and Analysis: (For Electrical Engineering Interns) Utilizing simulation/analysis tools like Ansys HFSS and Designer, CST Microwave, HSPICE, MatLab, and ADS (although not required). Conducting frequency-domain and time-domain component and circuit characterization.
Customer Support: (Potentially) Assisting in solving customers’ high-speed data transmission problems.
Collaboration: Working with other engineering disciplines and Sales Engineers.
FEA: (For Mechanical Engineering Interns) Utilizing Finite Element Analysis tools (desirable, not required).

Qualifications:

Applicants should be at least sophomores in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plastics Engineering programs. Specific requirements may vary by engineering discipline:

Mechanical Engineering Interns: Experience with Pro/E or Solidworks is preferred. Experience with Finite Element Analysis tools is desirable. Strong communication (technical and non-technical audiences) and teamwork skills are essential.

Electrical Engineering Interns: Experience with signal integrity and simulation/analysis tools is a plus but not required. Understanding of frequency-domain and time-domain component and circuit characterization, including test and calibration methods, is beneficial.
