Detailed Job Description:

This is an entry-level position, at Pape-Dawson Engineers, assisting with infrastructure design under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.). The work will involve various projects across different sectors including: Transportation, Water Resources, Environmental, Survey, Residential, and Commercial land development.

Responsibilities include:

Project Support: Assisting project managers in creating project plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Design Development: Developing feasible design alternatives, comparing design parameters (sections, alignments, right-of-way needs, costs), identifying key design features, and analyzing alternative solutions to meet project goals.
Software Utilization: Utilizing Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (AutoCAD Civil 3D) and other engineering software (InfoWorks® is mentioned, but others may be used) to produce engineering and design documents.
Technical Documentation: Preparing written technical reports and engineering studies according to company standards.
Fieldwork: Participating in site visits, assisting with field tests and construction observation, and creating as-built drawings.
Administrative Tasks: Interns primarily handle tasks such as redlining drawings, assisting with submittals, and preparing exhibits. Design work increases with experience.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Environmental, or Agricultural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• Prior civil design experience through internships is preferred but not required.
• Understanding of basic engineering principles, techniques, and procedures.
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients, and government agencies.
• Adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MS Word, and MS Excel.
• Experience with InfoWorks® is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Availability to work standard business hours (8 am to 5 pm, Monday-Friday) with potential for overtime.
• Reliability and dependability are essential.
