Engineering Intern, AI Innovation | NewsBreak
The Tone:
This is an internship at NewsBreak, located in-person. NewsBreak is a Content Intelligence platform, delivering highly personalized local news and information powered by advanced AI, recommendation systems, and adtech. This role is crucial for ideating, validating, and launching AI-driven startups, transforming emerging AI capabilities into scalable businesses at the critical intersection of technology, product, and entrepreneurship.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Rapid Prototyping: Quickly turn concepts into functional prototypes.
• Relationship Building: Build relationships across startups, venture capital firms, startup accelerators, and other ecosystem partners.
• Technical Enablement: Discern how NewsBreak can support project/portfolio company growth trajectories through technical enablement.
• System Architecture: Architect intelligent systems for venture-scale businesses.
• Market Validation: Validate markets to launch AI-driven startups from concept to early traction.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields (undergraduate, masters or PhD) from a top-tier University; Early Career.
• Experience: Previous working experience in Software engineering or ML engineering.
• Skills: Strong coding abilities; A founder’s mindset and a builder’s mentality; Strong problem-solving skills; Excellent communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills, along with a strong executive presence.
• Bonus: Founder Experience; Progressive business experience in early-stage venture investing or from a top-tier MBA program; An existing network in the San Francisco Bay Area’s startup ecosystem; A deep passion for innovative technologies and artificial intelligence, coupled with a strong pulse on key trends, themes, and players in the field.
