Job Title: Engineering Intern (Sophomore/Junior Level)
About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and technically inclined Engineering Intern to join our team. This position offers a valuable opportunity for students to apply their academic knowledge in a practical manufacturing environment, contributing to real-world projects and gaining hands-on experience. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of a Program Manager, supporting various engineering and operational initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and documenting processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Management and Analysis: Systematically update and maintain critical database information to ensure accuracy and currency. Create insightful metric charts and visual dashboards to effectively track and report current project results, aiding in data-driven decision-making.
- Process Improvement & Documentation: Actively support and contribute to continuous improvement efforts within manufacturing operations. Thoroughly document existing operational processes, creating clear and comprehensive standard operating procedures (SOPs). Develop high-quality training materials to support and facilitate the implementation of these documented processes, ensuring consistency and understanding across the team.
- Engineering & Technical Support: Collaborate with various individuals and teams to provide essential engineering and technical support, focusing on identifying and implementing improvements to manufacturing methods.
- CAD Design & Drafting: Utilize CAD software (preferably Inventor) to create new models and modify existing ones, directly supporting manufacturing efforts. Initiate and update technical drawings to accurately reflect the most current designs and models, ensuring precision and compliance.
Job Qualification Requirements:
Educational Experience:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a technically related field (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, etc.).
- Must have successfully completed the sophomore or junior academic year at the time of application.
Technical Experience & Skills:
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Proven experience with CAD software, with a strong preference for Autodesk Inventor.
- Solid understanding of general engineering coursework and principles.
Physical Demands:
The role may occasionally require physical exertion and movement. The employee must be able to:
- Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
- Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
- Exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.

Sensory Requirements:
- Visual Acuity: Near acuity and accommodation are essential for reading detailed documents, computer screens, and technical drawings.
- Hearing Ability: The ability to communicate effectively with employees and understand verbal instructions is required.
Working Conditions:
The primary work environment is typically an office setting. However, the employee will occasionally be required to work in a shop floor environment, where they may be exposed to:
- High noise levels from operating machinery.
- Physical hazards from moving equipment and production components.
- Breathing fumes, dust, and mist.
- Skin exposure to oils and cutting fluids.
- Welding flashes.
General Provisions:
The employee may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws. Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
