Description: Engineering Intern (Guelph, ON)
This paid internship, lasting at least 16 weeks and starting in May 2025, offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced, team-oriented plant environment. Interns will gain valuable experience working alongside diverse teams on projects focused on:
• Improving plant efficiency: Identifying and addressing efficiency issues.
• Working with contractors: Collaborating with external contractors on various projects.
• Energy-related process improvements: Contributing to initiatives aimed at enhancing energy efficiency.
• Reliability improvements: Implementing strategies to improve the reliability of plant processes and equipment.
• Plant process and equipment upgrades: Participating in the design and implementation of improvements to existing systems.
Responsibilities:
• Gaining a comprehensive understanding of the plant, its processes, and equipment.
• Collaborating with various functional areas, including safety and environmental, maintenance, engineering, contractors, and operations teams.
• Communicating effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
• Applying knowledge of government safety and environmental regulations.
• Managing the people, processes, and inputs/outputs to implement solutions.
• Participating in company orientation and ongoing performance assessments.
Work Environment:
The internship will be in a physically demanding environment requiring moderate exertion, involving bending, stooping, lifting (up to 50+ lbs occasionally, 10-25 lbs frequently), and exposure to elements such as heat, cold, and grain dust. Currently pursuings:
• Required: Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, graduating between December 2025 and August 2027; legal authorization to work in Canada; ability to work effectively with diverse teams; ability to complete a 4-month internship starting May 2025; high degree of initiative and resourcefulness.
• Preferred: Prior plant, production, co-op, or internship experience; ability to apply technical knowledge to job duties; problem-solving and decision-making skills; excellent communication skills; demonstrated leadership skills.
